Don’t indulge in doublespeak, Cong to NPF

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has asked the NPF not to “indulge in doublespeak to fool voters.”

A press note from the NPCC said that if there is any truth in the abrogation of ties with BJP, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Members should also withdraw their support to the BJP and sit in the opposition bench with Congress in Parliament and defend Christians from persecution and also defend the interests of the people. “They should also withdraw from BJP Ministry in Manipur state,” it added.

Any statement to this end from the NPF, it said is “intent to betray and fool Nagaland’s secular voters.” “This is purely doublespeak to trap voters once again and cover up their failures. They are the ones responsible for all activities and freedom of Hindutva activity in Nagaland. We all know after election they will again come together singing chorus of 40 years association,” the Congress claimed.

Meanwhile, the Congress said that the Nagaland government “giving free land hold to Patanjali Trust is in violation of Article 371(A).”

“We will oppose such ventures that compromise our Constitutional rights,” it stated. While acknowledging the importance of institutions to meet the growing need of skill development, science, medical and engineering studies etc; the Congress however did not agree to the patronage extended by the state Government to “people with RSS background.”

It accused the Chief Minister, TR Zeliang and MLA Thomas Ngullie of ignoring the “feelings of Christian society which continues to suffer in pain for the persecution of Christian brothers and sisters across India.”
