‘Don’t punish us for others’ criminal act’

Dimapur, July 19 (MExN): Finding their selves at the receiving end for a criminal act they did not commit, worried citizens from Pfutsero Town have appealed to the Finance Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, to lift the suspension order imposed on the functioning of the Sub-Treasury Office, Pfutsero. The  suspension was imposed due to a fraudulent withdrawal of pension from the STO by some persons which ultimately provoked the Finance Commissioner’s baton, it was informed.

“Recently the Finance commissioner, Government of Nagaland has suspended the Business Transaction of the Sub-Treasury Office Pfutsero and the staff of STO Pfutsero has been transferred to the Treasury office, Phek. With orders that the Office shall be established there and work of the Pfutsero Sub-Division shall be carried out there only” an e-mail stated. Stating that the decision of the Government can not be justified for fraudulent withdrawal of pension, the citizens rather called for the suspension of the “guilty dealing hands” and departmental Inquiry should be conducted.

“In this regard, we may ask the Government why the general public is being punished for the mistake/ error of a few Individuals. The old pensioners and salaried Persons of Pfutsero Town have to go to Phek for drawal of their Pension which will cause financial as well as physical burden to the common People. Secondly, can the government take the security risk for transportation of salary from Phek to Pfutsero considering the law and order situation in Nagaland and especially in Phek District? The transfer of a Government Office from one place to another is hardly as the Government is there for the welfare of the people and they should work for it in letter and spirit” according to the email.
