Impur, February 20 (MExN): Pastors attending a “spiritual awakening” programme under the aegis Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) recently were exhorted ‘not to wait for lost sheep but to go out searching for them’ to enhance church ministry.

Held under the supervision of ABAM’s Church and Mission on February 17 and 18 in Impur, the first-ever event of such nature in the association’s history was attended by 135 pastors from 112 local churches, a press release informed.

Speaking at the event on the topic “Where are you?,” Rev Dr Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary, ABAM stressed that the pastors need to answer some questions to realise the present scenario of their ministry.

“Where are you in the service of God pastors? Where were you Pastors when the sheep went astray and when they were on verge of death? Were you there as the shepherd?,” are the questions one must ponder upon, he said.

To this end, he pointed out that the systemic structure of ministry that “waits for the sheep to come has to be reversed by going out to search the lost sheep at any cost.”

“Unless otherwise, our endeavor will have no result. We need pastors whose eyes are full of tears for the lost sheep,” he underscored.

Also speaking on the topic, “Give the diligence to make your calling sure,” Rev Lanuyanger maintained that the callings of pastors are not general but “very personal.”

“Unless you do your job, no one takes your place. Knowing the seriousness of God’s calling, we need to avail ample time for thorough care of our sheep,” he said.

Rev Sentisashi, Senior Pastor, Kohima Ao Baptist Church while elucidating on the topic, “Go Deeper” stated that the lost sheep are not in the highways, but they are hidden in the deep and dark corners.

“Unless you go out of your comfort zone, hardly anyone can find one. Time demands a deep biblical nurturing and deep commitment. Let us get down from our chairs and go to the deepest corner and find those that are to be found,”

According to Rev Yapang Mollier, Secretary, Church & Mission, ABAM, series of spiritual awakening programmes for all the full-time church workers are being held given the Sesquicentennial Celebration.
