Doyang Bridge at NH-61 inaugurated

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Thursday inaugurated the Doyang Bridge at NH-61 (NH-2) over Doyang River in between Tsungiki and Mukhami village. 


According to a press statement issued by media cell, Deputy CMO, Patton at the inaugural termed it a red letter day for the Nagas, while noting that the bridge would impact many lives positively and significantly. He urged the people to take the ownership of the newly constructed bridge. 


Patton also congratulated and acknowledged the people of the area for extending their cooperation to the contractor as well as to the department by “not allowing any anti social elements to take undue advantage in obstructing and giving hindrance.” 


The deputy chief minister also revealed that the two lane road from Wokha to Doyang Bridge is already approved and road construction project from Doyang to VK Area under Zunheboto district is in the pipeline for approval.


Stressing that land owner issue should not be a factor for hindering any developmental activities, Patton  also appealed to the people of the neighboring villages to extend their fullest co-operations and take the responsibility for the smooth and successful completion of the approved two lane road project.  


Meanwhile, Advisor for NH, Dr. Longriniken thanked the people of Tsungiki and Mukhami villagers for their cooperation and efforts for the successful completion of the bridge.


The Doyang Bridge was constructed by M/S T. Tachu & Co at an estimated cost of Rs 14, 47, 54, 685. 610 crore sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MORTH). 


According to the technical report presented by NPWD (NH) Chief Engineer, Er K Theunuo, the bridge which is RCC type with the span of 78.44 meters has an approach road of 85 meters towards Wokha side and 95 meters towards Mokokchung side including connection with the existing alignment.
