Doyang, Pauna clinch Sainik School Punglwa’s inter-house cross country C’hip

Punglwa, November 4 (MExN): The Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) organised its Inter-House Cross Country Championship on November 4, with Doyang and Pauna Houses respectively clinching the championship trophies in the senior and junior categories.

SSP’s Principal and the Chief Guest, Colonel Arvind Nautiyal, flagged off the race in the early hours of Saturday as a total of 457 participants, including those from the school’s 10 houses and girl cadets, joined the competition. 

The race was held in three categories: senior cadets from classes X and XI covered 7 kilometres, while junior cadets from classes VIII and IX, as well as classes VI and VII, ran distances of 5 km and 3 km, respectively.

Doyang House clinched the championship trophy in the senior category, while Pauna House secured the trophy in the junior category.

In the individual standings, Cadet S Rito of Doyang House emerged as the winner in the senior category, completing the race in 27.05 minutes. Cadet Musho B and Cadet Bendangsoba secured the second and third positions, respectively. In the junior category, Cadet Resomong of Pauna House secured the first position with a time of 19.00 minutes, while Cadet Reguilungbe and Cadet Kerekiesier respectively took the second and third positions.

In the girls’ category, Kavya Prakash and Cadet Ongarhoni Ngullie secured the first positions for the 5-kilometer and 3-kilometer runs, respectively.
The Chief Guest later presented medals and certificates to the individual winners and awarded trophies to the winning houses.
