Dr. Nicky Kire campaigns for NPF

Kohima, April 4 (MExN): MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Dr. Nicky Kire has scheduled an intensive election campaign in all localities under 9th Kohima Town A/C from March 31 to April 5. He has urged the people of his constituency to actively participate in the upcoming parliamentary election and to vote for the DAN consensus candidate Neiphiu Rio to ensure that “Nagaland gets her due share of development and attention from the centre,” according to a press release.

“Nagaland having a single representation in the Lok Sabha has remained ignored for too long and now we have a tall leader able and ready to contribute to the affairs of the nation and also advance the cause of the Nagas,” Dr. Nicky Kire asserted during his campaign.

He also added that the government at the centre and the planning commission of India has reduced the state’s share of central funds much to the detriment of the people of Nagaland. Yet, the DAN government of Nagaland led by Neiphiu Rio has spared no efforts in ensuring timely release of salaries to its employees despite the financial constraints being imposed. With regard to the non-payment of salaries to SSA teachers, he regretted that the Central government has failed the teachers by not clearing their salaries on time and for which “the opposition party was trying hard to malign the image of the DAN government.”

The conventional practice and logic among Indian politicians, Dr Nicky Kire stated, has been to seek the post of chief minister and be the head of one’s domain so much so that even the union ministers rush back to be the chief minister wherever and whenever the opportunity arise.  He affirmed that Rio enjoys absolute majority and faces no threat or challenge to his leadership. “He has provided a stable and progressive government for over a decade and he can continue to do so for the whole term but the sacrifice of this coveted post of Chief Minister shows the clear vision and determination for the advancement and development of Nagaland and other disadvantaged states of the North-East of India.”

Further, he stated it was evident from all sources and opinion polls in national media that the NDA is all set to form the Government in Delhi. And, Neiphiu Rio, he said, shares a very good equation with the leaders of NDA and also commands a great deal of respect and trust from his fellow politicians so much to the extent of entrusting him with the responsibility of being the convenor of North East Regional Parties Forum (NERPF).

Stating that the NPF enjoys the mandate and support of the Nagas, the MLA expressed confidence that Nagas will elect Rio with a record margin shattering the highest victory margin of 4.83 lakhs set by former MP of Nagaland CM Chang. He appealed to the electorates of 9th Kohima Town A/C to unequivocally speak as one and support the DAN consensus candidate Neiphiu Rio by casting their precious votes in his favour.
