
Peren, March 25 (MExN): World TB Day was observed in Peren on March 24 with the theme ‘Unite to end TB’, organized by District Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) Peren in collaboration with the NGO’s at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, Peren. Pezanguno Celine Secii, District Media Officer, Peren informed in a press release that commemorating the day, drawing competition was conducted. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yartenla, District TB officer gave a brief talk on the RNTCP scenario and highlighted on the cause of TB, how to detect and its preventive measures and that a TB patients, medications should take a complete course of treatment. She also encouraged, challenged to reach the unreached areas in the District. She also stressed on the emergence of Multi-Drug Resistant (MDR) TB and that prevention. She urged, to not be afraid but come forward and support the cause and also to be aware and to stay alert and joint hands in eradicating this killer disease. 41 students participated in the drawing competition. Prize money was given to the three best essays and four consolations. The 1st prize was bagged by Sh. khadalubo of class XII, 2nd prize by Iziugwangle of class IX, 3rd prize by Izinlungbe of class IX ‘c’ and the four consolations by Charakungbo of class 10 ‘B’, Ipeubo of class VIII, Paikelungzoile of class IX and Pezaiyile of class X. A short testimony by Teulu TB cured patient. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Principal St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie.
