Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): The Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) has pledged its support to the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in its call for the immediate and stringent implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur.
In solidarity, the Union emphasised that the unchecked influx of non-locals and lax ILP enforcement pose a significant threat to the identity, culture, and future of indigenous Naga communities.
DRSU President, Khiti Kath and General Secretary, Esther Khing in a press release stressed that safeguarding the unique traditions, customs, and land rights of the Naga people must be the State government’s top priority.
“Delaying ILP enforcement would amount to negligence of the people’s constitutional rights under Article 371A,” the Union reiterated while urging other tribal bodies and civil society organizations to unite in this cause.
“We stand firm in our resolve to protect our heritage and assert our rights. The time for action is now, and we will not be silenced. We demand that the state government take concrete steps to enforce the ILP, safeguard our identity, and uphold the constitutional rights of the Naga people,” DRSU asserted.
