Dimapur | May 18
As people return to Nagaland, urban colony councils in Dimapur are also taking proactive steps to ensure the returnees complete the mandatory home quarantine. The Duncan Basti Council (DBC) informed today that it has resolved to monitor colony residents, who return from institutional quarantine.
DBC chairperson, Yangertoshi told the media today that it is in the process to identify families in the colony which are expecting returnees. While informing that some families have already responded to the council’s call to cooperate, he said that around five persons from the colony have returned, of which one has already completed institutional quarantine and currently in home quarantine.
“Our intention is not to stigmatise the returnees and their families. It is for the good of all,” he maintained. He added that it is also in touch with other families, which have wards and relatives on their way home.
He reiterated that the DBC will ensure that the returnees after completing the institutional quarantine also complete the subsequent home quarantine as dictated by government protocol.
According to him, each household with a returnee must see to it that the person in concern is isolated at home and not let out for 14 days, while practicing the specified hygiene and social distancing or safe distance norm. He added that it will identify, mark and monitor such households during the 14 days.
In this regard, the DBC will be organizing an awareness seminar for such families on May 19 at the colony community hall. Yangertoshi maintained that it will be conducted by maintaining the social distancing norm with the Medical Officer of the Duncan Basti Urban Primary Health Centre as the resource person.
Meanwhile, the DBC insisted that all entry points, except New Field and Dillai inter-state checkposts, into Dimapur from Assam must be sealed. While the motorable entry-exit points are sealed, there are many other points which are used by people to cross on foot, the council said. “This is another concern,” the council chairperson added.
