Dy CM, NLA Speaker mourn former MLA Chupfuo’s demise

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister (Dy CM) Y Patton and Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Sharingain Longkumer on Tuesday mourned the demise of Chupfuo, brother in law of State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Patton said that Chupfuo, who passed away on August 17, was a man of integrity who served the people of Nagaland as member of NLA for two terms.

“In his death the Nagas have lost a good leader whose absence will be felt,” the Dy CM stated in his condolence message while offering condolences to the bereaved family members on behalf of the state BJP legislators.

Meanwhile, in a separate message, NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer said that late Chupfuo served the people of the State as a Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for two terms in 1977 and 1982 respectively from the Northern Angami-II Constituency.

“He was a humble and dynamic leader who worked diligently for the welfare and upliftment of his Constituency and for the people of Nagaland. His contribution to the State shall always be honoured,” Longkumer stated.

He offered condolences on behalf of the 13th NLA to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
