Along with the rest of the country, a Tiranga Yatra Rally was held today in Wokha District, commencing from the Wokha Town Hall and culminating at Police Point. The event was organised in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, and aimed to denounce terrorism, express solidarity with the Indian Armed Forces, and honour those who have laid down their lives in service to the nation.

The rally was led by Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and BLP leader, Yanthungo Patton. Addressing the gathering, Patton expressed his appreciation to the participants for their presence and moral support for the Indian Army. He clarified that the rally was not conducted under the banner of any political party but was instead a unified gesture of respect and solidarity with the armed forces. Patton further noted that similar rallies were taking place across the country by all citizens of India, and reiterated that the event was devoid of any political motive.
In his speech, Patton condemned terrorism, declaring that there is no place for such violence in the country or the world. He extended his gratitude to the Military Defence of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to Modi as a visionary leader for his decisive stance against terrorism and the successful execution of Operation Sindoor.

The rally also saw the participation of members of the Ex-Servicemen Association of Wokha. Representing the association, which comprises 645 former servicemen, speakers reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to serve the nation whenever called upon.
A one-minute silence, led by Patton, was observed in honour of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives and those injured during the Pahalgam attack.
The rally saw widespread participation from members of various political parties, civil society organisations, students from educational institutions across Wokha District, and Citizens of Wokha. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem and a march towards Police Point.
