The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) inaugurated the Rest House cum Dzükou Entry Counter; launched SAYO website and release Bye Laws 2021 on Dzükou Valley Eco Tourism Management Authority (DVETMA) at Tepfüro, Viswema, Dzükou Entry trekking point with Youth Resources and Sports Advisor Er Zale Neikha and Technical Education and Election Advisor Er Medo Yhokha on September 17.

The website which will become fully operational in few days’ time will cater to all information and database for Dzükou Valley and connect with travel agencies, national, international tourists vis-a-vis tourist guides in the region and provide whatever information about the Dzükou including rules and regulations, booking, tickets among others.

Meanwhile, the Entry Ticket Counter is set to start from next week. Anyone entering Dzükou will be registered and entry tickets will be shifted here. Also, all forms of non-biodegradable products and plastics will be registered here.

While launching the website, Medo Yhokha stressed on the need to redefine narratives and interpretations over the Dzükou and Kezoltsa issue.

For a long time, stories and issues of Dzükou and Kezoltsa have been told to the people for generations after generation. But with changing times and changing situations, it is time to give a refined and renewed narrative and interpretation of the Dzükou and Kezoltsa issue and need to relook at the confronting parties in a different perspective, Yhokha commented.

He said claims have been made on topographical and geographical lines, but traditions and history passed down from our ancestors still bear significance. Today, people are wealthy and educated and our region needs to apply policy, planning, development, legal and technological interpretation into the issue to make rightful claim of our rights.

Meanwhile, Yhokha lauded SAYO for breaking barriers and bringing outcomes in different spheres including institutionalisation and digitization in necessary areas. He pointed that the website needs to cater to not only information but also needs to reflect the rights of the land for permanence and therefore called for continuous upgradation and maintenance of the same.

Speaking of leaders in the southern region, Yhokha said it is a time to reflect the responsibility and accountability that has been given to the leaders in the region adding that they have been given the mammoth task to mould and nurture the society.

Move beyond the situation and comfort level through the lens of social issues and the community, Yhokha said while  challenging the leaders of the day to move ahead and lead the society with more punctuality, purity and zeal in the way one wants to see the people and society tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Zale Neikha called SAYO the ‘guardians of Dzükou Valley’, adding that the organisation has fervently and tirelessly worked for the protection and posterity of the valley.

When maintaining the cleanliness of the valley became a huge cause of concern, the advisor said SAYO took a bold step in declaring the valley as 'Plastic-Free Zone'.

He also lauded the team for coming up with a concrete building and for the Dzükou Entry point at the present location which he said, is a major developmental project for the Valley and the Southern Angami villages in general.

He refuted the statement of the Manipur government calling Kezoltsa as Dzükou Base camp and hoisting Indian Flag on August 15 and termed carrying out activities in Kezoltsa as ‘exploitation’.

The Advisor called the attention of the leaders to prepare to face such situations in the coming days. Zale also further noted that the launching of a website will help in conveying the message to the world the truth behind the persisting issues of Dzükou and Kezoltsa.

Earlier, SAYO President Zakieleto Tsükrü gave the welcome note and Vithel Pusa gave the construction committee report. Bye Laws 2021 on Dzükou Valley Eco Tourism Management Authority (DVETMA) was also released during the programme.
