On August 7, the Eastern Entertainment Cultural and Aesthetic Society (EECAS) was officially launched in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, Chang Khulei Setshang officials, Chang Wedoshi Setshang officials and other invitees.

The society is empanelled as the district partner under Task Force for Music and Arts (TAFMA), Nagaland.

In the keynote address, Hongsangsonla, Director, EECAS expressed the need of larger platforms for the talents in the district.

“This society was not started out of the blue, it’s a dream, it’s a vision of many years,” she stated.

“Our society wants to change the narrative where people outside Nagaland think of our place as a disturbed area. We want people to know that we love our culture, we are people with so much talent,” she added.

On the occasion, Tuensang Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant noted that, “Things are in good hands.” He observed that there is no dearth of talent in the eastern part of Nagaland. “I am very happy that this started in Tuensang, if it happens in other district, it might have catered to one single tribe and being one of the oldest districts headquarter starting here, it’s a big challenge also,” he shared.

“Talent is there, even at the grassroots level. What is happening to all those talents? Their talent is dying untimely, unnatural death. They are devoid of any kind of platforms, there are some platforms but that also not encouraging. So, in midst of that, I am very happy for the launching of EECAS,” he remarked.

Further, the DC also assured any kind of help and support towards EECAS from the district administration in the future.

He mentioned that, it is ultimately to serve the people and taking talent to the right platform.

Earlier, Nungsanglemba Chang, President, CKS stated that, “ for those who want to do something for the welfare of the people, to promote any activities for the benefit of the general public and not individuals, it is difficult and a very challenging work.”

The event was led by Thungti, General Secretary, EECAS, a special song was presented by Mary and Hannah. The dedicatory and benediction was spoken by Anamong, Youth Secretary, Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen (CBLT).
