‘Eco-friendly pest management in stored grains’ training culminates

Medziphema, December 14 (MExN): An eight day long model training course on ‘eco-friendly pest management in stored grains’ culminated on December 13 at SASRD, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus.  

The training was organised by the Department of Entomology where 15 Extension personnel of different districts from the Department of Agriculture, Government of Nagaland participated. The participants were imparted with the recent technology on grain protectants with practical demonstrations, visit to village storage and FCI godown.  

The training programme concluded with Prof. AK Makar, Dean, SASRD as Chief Guest who said that the post harvest losses of food grains in India is about 10% of the total production. Therefore, it is very important for all concerned to focus on such areas in disseminating technologies which are farmer-friendly to protect the food grains from such losses. Dr. L.K. Bhaishya, Senior Scientist, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, was the Guest of Honour. In his speech, he congratulated the department for organising such training on eco-friendly pest management and also encouraged the participants to sincerely advocate the knowledge and technologies learned from the training in the state for both qualitative and quantitative production.  

Neiketo Tsükrü, AFA, DAO Office, Kohima, received the Best Participant Certificate. Dr. Beremjungla, Officer In-charge, Bio-Control Lab, Department of Agriculture and Zhavisier gave the feedback and remarks on behalf of the participants. The valedictory programme was chaired by Prof. H.K. Singh and Invocation prayer by Anungba Imsong, Pastor, MTABC.  

Dr. Pankaj Neog, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology gave the Course Report while special number was presented by Nungshitola Pongener and vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. IT Asangla Jamir, Course Director & Head, Department of Entomology, SASRD.
