Dimapur, October 3 (MExN): The District Tobacco Control Cell today informed that the Eden Medical Centre has been declared as a ‘Tobacco Free’ hospital.
Dr C Tetseo, District Nodal Officer, NTCP Dimapur in a press release stated that this measure will go a long way in creating awareness among the patients and visitors about the ill effects of tobacco products. He made an appeal to other private hospitals in the town to take a cue from it and make their hospitals Tobacco free. He cautioned that that all the hospitals with research centre tag are considered as an educational institutions and they come under the purview of COTPA section 6 (b) and non-compliance can also attract penalty under the same section.
