ZSU holds 58th general session
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 29 (MExN): The Zhavame Students’ Union held its 58th General Session on December 28, 2017 under the theme, “Bridging the Past, Cultivating the Future” at Pame Tsudu, Zhavame village. Speaking at the inaugural session, MLA Deo Nukhu asserted that education begins at home and also emphasized on learning one’s mother tongue and to give no importance to Nagamese.
He noted that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are returning back to India to teach and help their own people and meanwhile urged upon the students’ community to believe in themselves. He further underscored the need for students to study persistently for competitive examinations while also laying emphasis on vocational education and learning technical skills for job-oriented employment.
Highlights of the event included unveiling of the union flag by the chief guest, invocation by S. John Krocha, Catechist, St. Xavier’s Catholic Church, special appearance by Lisü Nukhu, presidential address by Medovi Rhi, releasing of the tenure magazine, sharing by Dr. Rosou Pohena (CTSE, NPSC 2016 batch), “Fly” by Mosurhü Dukru, general secretary report by Derhü Pohena, meritorious award, declaration of new office bearers by the ZSU Election Commission, act of blessing by Rev. Fr. James Sangtam, Principal of St. John School, Razeba, and closing prayer by Soukho Shupao, Associate Pastor, ZBC.
