A two-day long 75th anniversary celebration of the Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) with the theme “Toward a brighter future” concluded at Chiechama village in Kohima district on Saturday.

Gracing the valedictory function as the special guest, Keduosieü Rio, Director, Tourism department, Nagaland subscribed education as the most powerful weapon to change the world.

She encouraged the students to broaden their minds and help one another in whichever way they can.

She told the students not to give up with just one try but to keep on trying and be focused. “Even if you are highly qualified, if you don't have the zeal to compete with others then you are nothing,” Rio said.

With the high level of competition in the modern society, we should be more determined and put more efforts to excel, she said.
Each of you has the power to give an impact to the world in one way or the other, she said

In this, the Director asked the students to dream big and grab the opportunity.

Stating that National Highway passes through Chiechama village, she said “We should be more polite and be more hospitable to others, to the passerby,” adding that blessing comes in many unexpected ways.

‘Make effort towards better, brighter future’
The Director also urged the students to put determination in their works rather than expecting everything from parents. “We should not only depend on government jobs,” she said adding that the government cannot suffice everyone.

In this, she urged the students to go for skill training as there are many ways they can sustain themselves.

Touching on 75 years anniversary theme, “Toward a brighter future,” she insisted “Let us not just be the listeners but the doers and make effort towards better and brighter future.”

Further, she stressed on the need to believe in oneself and make the impossible things possible. “We should not let negative things rule over us,” she added.

The valedictory function was chaired by Apenuo Keditsu while vote of thanks was proposed by CSU advisor Neikeduo Rio.

Earlier, in extempore speech competition, Neiphrezolie Riipreo bagged the first position while Kekhrieselie Rio and Neiwe-u Mere stood second and third position respectively. Seyievinuo Riipreo bagged the first position in debate while Kethosenuo V Rio and Kelemenuo Sogotsu stood second and third position respectively.
