Several resolutions adopted at Party’s 3rd General Convention

The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) today declared that is it is “committed in its endeavour to bring about progressive transformation aimed at all round development with special focus on the backward and interior regions, in an inclusive and equitable manner.”
In doing so, the welfare of all citizens and stakeholders, “especially the weaker sections of society, are of topmost priority,” stated one of the resolution adopted at the 3rd General Convention of NDPP here at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.
The party also resolved to continue to strive for “freedom of speech and expression, promotion of gender equality, uphold the secular ethos of the country, protect the rights of minorities, support innovation, creativity and allow the arts to flourish.”
While standing up for regional sensitivities, the Party resolved to make all efforts in positively contributing towards the nation building process to achieve our declared aspiration of “Change is coming” with the unstinted motto of “facta non verba.”
In another resolution, the NDPP also stated its “stands for early resolution of the decades old Indo-Naga political issue through a negotiated political solution that is democratic, honourable and acceptable to the people.”
In this connection, the Party appealed the negotiating parties to expedite the peace process and bring about an early resolution in response to the “cry of the people for genuine and lasting peace.”
The NDPP supported the declaration of the PDA government to play the role of an active facilitator in the on-going peace process.
It also resolved to support the democratic desire of the Naga people to live together as one family and reiterate our support for integration of all continuous Naga areas under a single administrative unit.
The NDPP called upon all sections of the people to come together under a spirit of unity, brotherhood and oneness and make efforts towards strengthening of the political dialogue so that all sections contribute towards early realisation of an honourable political solution.
The party also called upon all sections, especially our neighbours to build confidence and good neighbourliness under a spirit of mutual co-existence in the greater interest of the region and of the country.
Reiterates support to NDA, NEDA
The resolution read out by resolution committee convenor Neiba Kronu also stated that the NDPP is a political party with a firm regional ideology that carries the voice of the masses and at the same time has a national outlook while pursuing policies and programmes that are in tune with global responsibilities.
“In line with this stand of the party, the NDPP reiterates its position of being a contributing member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) and the party extends its appreciation to the partners of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) coalition and also to the other members of the NBA and the NEDA for the support and the solidarity,” the resolution stated.
The NDPP congratulated the PDA government for the several new initiatives that has been undertaken especially steps aimed at good governance, transparency, conservation of the environment, promotion of merit and removal of VIP culture in Nagaland.
“The NDPP will continue to pursue its ideals of realisation of justice and equality under a spirit of peace, democracy and freedom as enshrined in the Constitution of the Party,” it stated.
The party urged the state government to focus on all round development of the state that will ensure accelerated economic growth, create employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth, promote upgradation of the agriculture and allied sector and improve overall infrastructure, especially the network of roads and bridges.
The party urged the state government to consider positive reforms that will enable economic growth, create employment opportunities, attract external investment, enhance tourism' potentials and promote brand Nagaland in a progressive manner to the national and international community.
It also urged the state government to give special focus to the social sector especially in the fields of education and health where significant policy decisions needs to be undertaken for improving the overall scenario of these sectors in the greater interest of the present and future generations.
