Mokokchung, October 5 (MExN): The second day of the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2016 witnessed four matches between eight competing teams in the tournament. Favourites Shitilong S/A and Sports Society Suyim (SSS) clashed in the third match of the day with Shitilong triumphing 2-0. The match as expected was even and the most competitive of today’s matches. However, the strong midfield of Shitilong breached the SSS defense line and striker Kethozhaopu (Jersey No 8) scored the first goal in the 42nd minute. The Sports Society Suyim counterattacked, but Shitilong’s defense line proved to be too strong to breach. The SSS team while counterattacking left gaps in their defense lines, and eight minutes later, at the 50th minute, Shitilong SA striker, Jongpongnungsang (Jersey No 9) struck home the second goal. Another favourite of the tournament, Dilong Youth Association (DYA) triumphed over Arikodong Club 3-1. First entrant, Arikodong Club put up a nice stand against a resurgent Dilong Youth Association. Dilong striker, Inshalu (No. 9) rose to the occasion and notched the match for DYA through two goals in the first half. Sujimong of DYA netted another goal in the second half. The Arikodong Club also counterattacked and found a goal through Wasu Kalentga at the 68 minute. Earlier in the day, the first match was played between Elation SA Vs Stardom F/C and Youngstar S/C Vs Tepenjem. The first two matches were won by Elation SA and Youngstar S/C through one goal respectively.
