Election ahead, DC Mon directs officials and organizations to be vigil

MON, MARCH 18 (DIPR): Mon District Planning & Development Board meeting was held on March 15 at the DC’s conference hall. The meeting began with the observance of one minute silent mourning for Late Ronshong Konyak, Information Assistant of DPRO office Mon who expired on March 5. While offering condolence message to the bereaved family, the Deputy Commissioner said that though late Ronshong was not a member of DPDB, he was a sincere officer whose service was utilized by the board for various purposes. She also announced financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 from the DPDB to the deceased family.  

Regarding collection of data for identification of beneficiaries under National Food Security Act 2013, the DC appealed to the ADS (Supply) to coordinate with the respective administrative officers and Social Welfare department to collect accurate data and rectify the wrong figures.  

The board recommended opening of a new school ‘Holy Trinity School’ at Tizit Town.  In view of the Parliamentary Election 2014, the DC appealed to all the Heads of the Departments who are appointed as nodal officials to sensitize their subordinate officers and their staff regarding election duty and training, in order to ensure free, fair and peaceful election in the district.

Referring to the decision of the District Level Standing Committee held on March 12 on Parliamentary Election, she said that carrying of Arms, plying of truck loaded with timber, logs & coal and liquor in the district are prohibited with immediate effect. In these connections, she directed the administrative officers, KNSK, Police and Excise department to keep vigil on the issues. At the same time, she also lauded KNSK for conducting frisking and seizing of liquor in different parts of the district.

She also informed that without the approval of the medical board, no government servant would be exempted from election duty.  Regarding carrying of locally made Muzzle loading Guns which are part of Konyak culture, she said that as per the decision of DLSC it has been exempted from the purview of the order till April 6, in view of the Konyak Aoleang festival from April 1 to 5.  
     
AEO, Mon, Akheto informed the board that medical board examination would be held on March 18 at 11 am in the office of the CMO, Mon. He also requested the administrative officers to collect the EPIC cards from the office from March 7 onwards, to ensure that it is not handed over to the wrong person. Since majority of the polling stations are Schools and all the Polling Stations are to be connected with power and water supply, Akheto requested the DEO (Education), EE. Power and PHED to submit the status report of the Polling Stations on March 18.

SDO Civil, Phomching, Pakon Phom, who is in charge of training for polling personnel, informed that the 1st phase of training for the polling personnel was held on March 11 and the 2nd phase of the training will be held on March 22 at GHSS, Mon at 11 Am. The 3rd and final training will be held on April 4 at the council hall at 11 am sharp. 
SDO Civil, Mon, Keyirangding Hegui, who is in charge of transport and communication, requested the HODs to bring their respective vehicles to the local ground on April 4. Since there is a shortage of vehicle, he requested the administrative officers of the sub-division to identify private vehicles in their respective jurisdiction for election duty.
