Mon district Sector Magistrates and Sector police officers briefed on election
Mon, January 9 (MExN): Thavaseelan K (IAS), Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Mon briefed Sector Magistrates and Sector police officers of nine assembly constituencies of Mon district on January 9 at DC Conference Hall, Mon.
Thavaseelan informed the officers that election duty takes precedence over others and therefore all concerned are to be sincere and work hard for the successful conduct of elections.
He emphasized on vulnerability in the context of elections, where the exercise of Vulnerability Mapping (VM) is to be undertaken with the objective of clearly identifying in advance the vulnerable voters in all the constituencies. VM exercise shall be carried out without exception in three stages; Firstly to identify the voters or segment of voters who are vulnerable to threat or intimidation; Secondly, to identify the persons who are causing such vulnerability and thirdly to initiate preventive measures against the persons responsible for causing vulnerability.
He also urged the Sector Magistrates to carry out their pre-poll eve and poll day responsibilities diligently. He encouraged them to undertake frequent trips to their Sectors/Zones and liaison with all stakeholders as a confidence building measure.
Reny Wilfred (IAS), SDO (C) HQ, Mon spoke briefly on Systemic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). He urged the officials to take up effective SVEEP activities in their respective jurisdiction.
