Ellie Goulding thought she was 'dying of a heart attack' when she was diagnosed with exhaustion this summer. The singer, 29, was forced to cancel a string of shows in July when she was signed off after her body reached 'breaking point'. Admitting her panic attacks got so bad she thought she was going to die, the pop princess opened up about her 'lonely' battle with anxiety in this week's edition of Stylist magazine. Ellie explained: 'I'd have panic attacks and, to me, they felt like I was dying of a heart attack. It's a very hot, burning feeling, like your heart is racing uncontrollably which is extra scary for me because I actually have a heart defect.' The jet-setting star admitted her body completely 'gave up' on her shortly before she was diagnosed with the condition, and it's only now she realises how dangerous the situation actually was for her health. She added: 'When I think back to my tiredness, my slump, not wanting to exercise and not being interested in anything. It wasn't depression, it was just my body giving up.' Speaking about her health woes, Ellie insisted it's important that she and other celebrities are honest about their anxiety issues. Following in the footsteps of musician Zayn Malik to discuss her mental health battles in the public arena, the blonde songstress insisted anxiety can be a 'lonely' thing. Ellie told Stylist: 'Too many people are quiet about mental health. When you feel anxiety, it's a very lonely feeling. It makes you feel like you're the only person in the world feeling that way.' Ellie was signed off her Delerium World Tour with exhaustion in July after months of globe-trotting. Source: Mail Online
