Elusive Naga political solution due GoI’s deceitful practice, alleges NSCN (IM)

Flays 'continued mishandling' of a Kilonser case in Delhi

Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): The Government of India (GoI) has been dealing in “deceit against the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) from the day the Indo-Naga political dialogue started in 1997, the NSCN (IM) has alleged.

“Significantly, this has become the reason why the Naga political solution remains elusive,” it asserted in a statement issued via its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP).

In doing so, the NSCN (IM) claimed, the GoI is employing in what it termed as “purposeful falsehood” to mislead the world on Naga political issue and Naga people’s identity and deemed it as ‘cheating.’

If further stated that when deceit is practice consciously, “false impression is created to mislead the world on Naga issue and thus get away with something bad against NSCN” and keeping in on the wrong side of justice

The NSCN (IM) also described as “exasperating experience” to deal with the never ending suppressive and divisive policy, which it alleged was the  hallmarks of India’s handling of Naga political issue for the past over 70 years.

If the GoI is “courageous enough to solve Indo-Naga Political issue, the acts of deceit should have been kept at a distance, it added.
The statement came in the backdrop of recent denial bail application of the NSCN (IM) Kilonser Alemla Jamir, whom it designated as a “Prisoner of War” (POW) as per international law.

She has been “unfairly and unjustly” by linked as a “hardcore member of the misplaced ‘terrorist outfit’ forcing her incarcerate in the jail for the past more than four years,” it stated.

Contextualising the assertion, the NSCN (IM) stated that “India never stop indulging in giving blows against NSCN below the belt by way of recklessly using the diabolic term Terrorist outfit,” though it entered into ceasefire to pave the way for peaceful political solution.

This is against the spirit of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 18, 2002 in Milan, Italy signifying the conscious decision of the GoI to discontinue the ban on the NSCN under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, it pointed out.

“Politically speaking, the term “terrorist outfit” is henceforth a misnomer against NSCN,” it added.

To this end, the NSCN (IM) accused the GoI of failing to respect the MoU and continued mishandling of the case of Kilonser Jamir.
“This is a pure case bereft of sincerity and understanding from human perspective,” it stated, describing as an action to “intimidate the Nagas into submission.”

However, the NSCN (IM) said that it would “never be browbeaten into submission.”

“This has been the  politics in the Naga revolutionary movement for the past 70 years that has confounded the worldly wise and the politically conscious people within India itself,” it added.

As per a PTI news agency report, the Delhi High Court on January 13 has refused to grant bail to Jamir in an alleged case of “terror funding” for the second time.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) lodged a case against Jamir after she was intercepted at the Delhi airport on December 17, 2019, before she could fly to Dimapur with about Rs 72 lakh in cash, it said.

The report further noted that as per the NIA, she was unable to explain the source of the recovered cash and an intimation was sent to income tax department prompting an investigation.
