Medziphema, March 24 (MExN): The Medziphema Village during its annual general meeting held on March 18 at the Village Council Hall thoroughly discussed the “lack of transparency of MGNREGA funds and of the same funds embezzled by the RD Department, which is exclusively meant for Village development especially the Rural Areas.”
Medziphema Village Session Chairman Niesakuolie Siam and Session Secretary Kevisikho Kuotsu in a press release said after a deliberate discussion, it was learnt that “on various occasions RD Department, have asked VDB Secretary and Village Council Chairman sign blank cheques, meant for department mobilization works.”
“As there is no clarity on what mobilization works were undertaken by the RD department as nothing concrete works was seen by the Village, hence Medziphema Village have unanimously resolved that henceforth Medziphema VDB Secretary and Chairman, Medziphema Village Council will not issue any blank cheque to RD department,” the release added.
“If in future, any cheque is issued to RD Department, it will have the name of beneficiary, exact amount and only after having proper details about the method utilization of the said fund/money,” the Medziphema Village further asserted.
