Empower men-folks to act with reason: NMA

Dimapur, February 27 (MExN): With the March 5th polling day barely a week away and seeing the recent spate of sporadic violence and confrontations, the Naga Mothers Association (NMA) on behalf of the mothers expressed deep concern and alarm over the loss of precious lives and properties in poll-related violence. While pointing out that it was the bounden duty of every responsible citizen and the responsibility of Government law enforcing agencies to ensure that untoward incidences are prevented, the NMA also called upon, particularly the women folks of the Naga society to take upon “ourselves” the tasks of “empowering our men-folks to demonstrate their courage” to be able to act with “reason and wisdom”, to enable the people elect the best choice of leaders who can be loyal to their electorate and the issues for which they may be elected.

“While doing this, it is equally expected that the women folks do not indulge in corrupt activities in any way, in order to retain the credibility to be able to arbitrate in any conflict situation”, stated a press note issued by Khesheli Chishi, president ofNMA.

The NMA press note also cautioned against misinformation which are often the root causes of many confusion and confrontation, which comes with malicious motivations, false impersonation and total disregard of all senses of decency. “This will also imply the need for the media to report responsibly and thoughtfully” she stated.
