
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) today expressed appreciation to the Sumi Hoho, Unification Camp Core Committee and the NSCN (IM) for their ‘open hearted’ response to the suggestion put forward on the issue of ‘broad based Naga Unification without any discrimination’. The ENPO stated that on line with its resolution adopted at Tuensang on December 18, 2007 to work for the unity of Nagas, the Organisation held a series of marathon consultative meeting with the Sumi Hoho, Unification Camp Core Committee and the NSCN (IM) on January 8 and 9, 2008 at Dimapur area.
The ENPO, in a release by general secretary W. Lemba Chang stated that it had a ‘heart to heart’ discussion with the Sumi Hoho and came up three resolutions where in it decided to support the Unification movement without any discrimination and territorial limit. It also resolved that there would be no fratricidal killing among the Nagas and would appeal to the public for non-cooperation with any faction that violated the resolution. The meeting with the Sumi Hoho also decided to form a joint coordination committee of the ENPO and Sumi Hoho to work for Naga unification as desired by the people.
Reiterating its appreciation to the Unification camp Core Committee and the NSCN (IM) for their confidence in the ENPO, the release conveyed that it would always work for “Naga Unity on broad based Unification with realistic form and commit to execute any assignment given to it with utmost sincerity and wisdom in the larger interest of the Naga people.” The organization stated that Nagas are at a crossroad and hence people’s aspiration and desire to the Naga political solution must be the topmost priority.
Therefore the ENPO also appealed to the Naga civil societies/organization and Churches to put forward their best effort and wisdom under a common platform for conducive atmosphere and pave the way to achieve the Naga political aspiration. At the same time it also appealed to the National Workers to restrain from allegations and counter allegations on each other and rather put their best views and modalities for the Naga aspiration in the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness.
