‘Enrol responsible citizens to carry on the noble service’

Tseminyu, June 4 (DIPR): The Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch Kohima on May 26 inaugurated the IRCS Tseminyu subdivision branch at Tseminyu town with chairman of IRCS, Povotso Lohe, as the chief guest. 

In his speech, Lohe said that upholding the principles of the International Red Cross Society, which are humanity, impartiality, mutuality, unity and universality, etc., the IRCS has been doing humanitarian service to the nation for more than 100 years and Nagaland is no less in its effort to keep up to its tenets ever since the day of its inception in the state.

Lohe also said that delivering emergency relief during natural and manmade disasters, working together with communities in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Training Communities in disaster preparedness ensuring availability of water and providing sanitation services, providing first-aid training, protecting civilian life by disseminating the Geneva Convention, recruiting families in disaster in conflict, creating awareness for HIV/AIDS, delivering community welfare programme and providing safe blood are some of the activities of the IRCS.

The chief guest also said that to carry on such a noble service to humanity, care should be taken during the enrolment of new members to see that responsible citizens in the state are enrolled. It may be mentioned that Tseminyu Branch is the 30th district branch in Nagaland. Those who spoke on the occasion were Zakie Kire, GS, IRCS N(Unit), Kuoliebeizo Mephfüo, secretary of IRCS Kohima District (B). Vote of thanks was pronounced by Hilo Kent, chairperson of Tseminyu Town Council, while the programme was chaired by Wezope Kenye, ADC.
