Tuensang, November 18 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Student’s Federation (ENSF) on Wednesday issued a 7 day ultimatum to the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio with regard to the Nagaland Staff Selection Board Regulation, 2020.
In case of failure to address its demands within the stipulated period, the Federation cautioned of taking up “any form of democratic indefinite agitation.”
It reminded the CM of its earlier representation on the same submitted on September 11 and another representation with regard to the non-implementation of Personnel and Administrative Reforms notification of 2008, 2011 and 2015 by the Nagaland Public Service Commission on October 26.
The ENSF stated that it had been compelled to submit the ultimatum “in the interest of employment justice and equality” due to the lukewarm attitude of the state government.
The Federation highlighted that ever since the State of Nagaland came into existence, the people of Eastern Nagas have been “suppressed and deprived in all aspects.”
Even after six decades since the formation of the State, the condition of the Eastern Nagas in employment sector is still in dilapidated condition and bad shape, it stated.
It also cited equality of opportunity in matters of public employment as per Article 16 of the Indian Constitution.
The ENSF reminded of the 6 points Charter of Demand submitted in its September 11 representation and the 4 points Charter of Demand in its October 26 representation.
It stated that the Federation has detected many irregularities committed by the NPSC whereby in Combined Technical Services, the Eastern Nagas were denied/manipulated 78.25 posts
In Combined Education Services, 36.50 posts were denied and in NCS, NPS, NSS and Allied Services 25 posts were denied/manipulated, it added.
Consequent upon the failure of the state government in addressing the genuine and legitimate demand, the Federation once again placed its demand to compensate the mentioned denied/manipulated posts within 7 days with effect from November 18.
It cautioned of “democratic indefinite agitation” till its legitimate demand is fulfilled and added that “…the state government will be solely held responsible for any untoward incident.”
