DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Union Dimapur (ENSUD) today condemned the alleged ‘attempt to rape and murder’ of a minor girl in Dimapur on March 28. A press note from the ENSUD informed that the incident occurred at Indisen Village. It alleged that the “victim was physically harassed twice before the incident…” “The victim being a minor was taken advantage by the very culprit and attempted rape, but when she resisted and made alarm, the victim was caught on her neck in an intension to murder,” the ENSUD said. It was further informed that an FIR regarding the incident has been lodged by the Konyak Union Dimapur at the West Police Station, Dimapur. Stating that “such an in-human act to a minor is totally unacceptable in our society,” the ENSUD appealed the law enforcing agency to book the culprit at the earliest. The Nokhu Student’s Union and Nokhu Nokking Student’s Union have also expressed shock at the incident. A joint statement from the two organisations urged law-enforcing agency to immediately probe the case and award befitting and exemplary punishment to the culprit.
