
KOHIMA, APRIL 22 (MExN): The Directorate of School Education issued a set of guidelines to be followed by any school/institution within the State opting for online education during the current COVID-19 lockdown period.
“Neglecting the safety and security of children in any manner shall attract strict action against the School/Institution under section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and other relevant sections of existing laws,” the Department stated in its advisory.
It said that the responsibility to ensure safety of children in the digital spaces lies with the schools/institutions conducting any online classes using any application/social media platform and advised the schools/institutions to follow all the necessary safety measures given by the authorities from time to time.
It also recommended that participation of children in virtual classrooms should be under parental supervision and schools/institutions should provide orientation to parents.
Further, it said that Login IDs should not be made in the name of the students and students should only be attending the online classes/interaction as a guest. Entire control of the virtual classroom should be with the teacher only so that students are prevented from falling into prey of cyber bullying/ abuse, it added.
