Mon, August 1 (DIPR): One day workshop on the topic 'Together we build for change' was organised by Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) in Mon Town at KNSK Hall on July 30. It was sponsored by Department of Under Developed Areas.
In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Mon, W Honje Konyak said that women issue is a common topic where women focus more on 33% reservation. But, it has to start at the grassroots level by strengthening women individually, building their confidence and uplifting women in all aspects making them capable to fight for their rights instead of demanding their rights, he stated. The DC also maintained that women are not discriminated in Konyak society; it is the custom and tradition practiced over the years that hinder women.
He further stated that women are now practically changing as they are beginning to occupy important positions and becoming a part of decision making in all fronts. President KU, President KSU, Woman Pastor KBCM, ward leaders and KNSK officials attended the workshop.
