DIMAPUR, AUGUST 31 (MExN): The Emuloto Public Organization (EPO) on Thursday served a 15-day deadline to the Nagaland Government to repair the road from Khubokita-Khitsakita (18 km) Via Atoizu under Zunheboto district.
A representation addressed to Nagaland Chief Secretary by EPO chairman Abeto Sumi and secretary Vikato I Chishi said the said Khubokita-Khitsakita road is one of the main routes leading to Khelhoshe Polytechnic College, Asukhuto and to Zunheboto district. However, with the road in a pitiable condition, citizens have been facing untold miseries and hardship for years, due to complete negligence and lack of proper strategies to tackle the problem by the concerned department.
It lamented that the construction and maintenance of the road have been lying unattended for more than a decade and the public have been maintaining the said road at their own expense from time to time. But due to lack of machinery tool and modern equipments, the repaired roads cannot sustain for long, the representation added.
Moreover, it pointed out that the public will not be in a position to maintain the said road time and again. It has therefore demanded that the government provide commendable service in respect for the demand of good road made by the public.
Stating that the EPO sees no justifiable reason as to why appropriate steps have not been taken to ensure that the road is properly constructed and maintained, it served a 15-day deadline to the government and concerned department to repair the road from the date of receipt of the representation.
The EPO cautioned that it would resort to own course of action as deemed fit on the event of failure on the part of the government and concerned department to act within the given time.
