Dimapur, July 28 (MExN): Industrial village, an Angami village in Dimapur in the centre of controversy over land issues with six municipal areas in Dimapur, today declared that every Naga tribe has its own land areas, for instance, the Konyak Nagas have Mon district as their traditional land, the Ao Nagas have Mokokchung district as their traditional land and so on.
“…Every Naga tribe has its won traditional land like Mon district is the traditional land of Konyak Naga, so also Ao Naga are the traditional landowner of Mokokchung district so on so forth with the rest of the other Naga tries,” a rejoinder from the head GB of Industrial village stated today.
“One Naga tribe cannot claim his traditional right over the other Naga tribal land except within his own tribal traditional village land that from which tribal village he/she belongs to,” stated the village’s head GB TL Angami in the rejoinder.
The village also clarified on a number of issues associated with various aspects of the ongoing standoff between the village and six municipal colonies in Dimapur. The note from the head GB of Industrial village said the village took action against one Among Pongen, a GB of Ao Khel, “according to rules and regulation within a recognized village.
The village then refuted charges that the said Angami and his family were hiding in Kukidolong areas. Denying this, the GB said “my Razhuphe village” is “lawfully established at its present site under the Angami tribal traditional land.”
The said Angami claimed that he “established” a “traditional village” over the present site “after obtaining permission from traditional landowner of Chumukedima”.
