COVID-19: Social distancing protocol - Part III

In the wake of witnessing heavy rush for shopping during the marketing period in the past few days in Kohima, Nagaland’s Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Neiba Kronu on Wednesday requested the people to maintain social distancing norms.


The Morung Express has been gathering views and observations of the cross section of people on social distancing protocol during COVID-19 lockdown period.


The Minister requested everyone to always wear a face mask in the public places and follow proper hand hygiene, which are also crucial measures for preventing the spread of the virus.


Nagaland’s Home Principal Secretary Abhijit Sinha also asked the people to understand the importance of social distancing, wearing mask in public places and hand hygiene as three crucial norms to prevent the spread of virus.


“Everybody has to contribute a bit to ensure that this become a behavioral norms for everyone,” Sinha said.


Further, Sinha felt that there should not be any rush because shop opens for enough hours and enough number of days.
In the state capital Kohima, the marketing hours stand 7:00 AM to 2: 000 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
The Principal Secretary continued that people are being encouraged not to go far locations but to go to the nearest market and do the necessary shopping.
