A person had a miraculous escape, jumping off an earth excavator, which fell off a trailer truck. A video of the freak incident, which went viral today, shows a man jumping off the excavator as it slid off the back of what appeared to be a big stationary trailer and tumbling down the side of the road.
The trailer was reportedly stuck in sludge in a narrow and unstable road segment of the Kohima-Wokha-Mokokchung road, where earth-cutting for road expansion is on.
According to the Wokha police, it happened on January 9 around 3:00 pm at a place known to the locals as ‘Tsungiki bazaar 1’ somewhere between Chukitong town and Wokha district headquarters.
It could not be ascertained what the unidentified person/driver was trying to do. As per the video, he got out of the driver’s seat and jumped off just in time as the excavator was mid-air while a crowd looked on.
The police said that the person survived unhurt, while the excavator plunged down below the road. The excavator was being transported on a trailer truck to Mokokchung from Wokha town.
