Medziphema, March 4 (MExN): The inaugural programme of the three-day Faculty Development Program and ICT workshop on capacity building for all faculty of NU:SAS and NU:SET campuses was held at School of Agricultural Science, Nagaland University (NU:SAS) library conference hall on March 4 on the theme ‘Design, Develop and Deliver Online/Blended Learning Courses.
The programmes are sponsored by National Institute of Educational Panning & Administration, New Delhi and organised by School of Agricultural Science, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus.
The resource person was Prof K Srinivas, Head of ICT & Project Management Unit of National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) a Government of India, Ministry of Education (MoE) Institution, New Delhi. Prof KSrinavas briefed about the workshop saying that it is part of the NEP 2020 requirement of GOI and that the three-day workshop will be hands on learning with the aim of creating exposure to the faculty about the Virtual/Blended Learning Environments, OER and MOOCs for better pedagogical approaches. The objective is to create the environment for the process of planning, designing and delivering online/blended courses and to adopt active, communicative and collaborative tools for better teaching-learning.
An effective teaching learning process in a blended environment calls for understanding and skills of using appropriate pedagogies with suitable technologies. ‘BL’ is a meaningful blend of offline (Face-to-face) and online learning environments. He also emphasised on the magnitude of making learning interesting, meaningful and applicable in real life situations for students.
Prof L Daiho, Dean, SAS:NU while welcoming all stressed on the importance about the blended learning and the need for all faculty to be updated and skilled in this area. Altogether 63 faculty registered for the workshop.
