Faculty in Social Science attends capacity building prog

Zunheboto, April 21 (MExN): A two week capacity building programme for faculty in Social Science, organised by the Department of Sociology NU Lumami and sponsored by ICSSR New Delhi got underway in in Sociology Department NU. The aim of the programme is to provide opportunity to build up better teaching and research capacity and enhance in capabilities of the faculty of social science teaching in different colleges and universities.   Dr Toshimenla Jamir, HOD Department of Sociology and course director welcomed all the participants coming from different institutions. Key note address was delivered by Prof. AK Singh vice chancellor in charge NU who emphasized need for research methodology in social science was essential in order to predict the correct result in social sciences.

  Prof Sangyu Yaden who is the ICSSR observer to this programme acknowledged the department of sociology for organising such an important programme that would give opportunity to teachers to build up their capacity in writing skill, teaching and research. He also cautioned that in the world of competition a teacher need to be well informed and equipped with the latest knowledge.The inaugural programme was chaired by Dr. Y Srikanth Assistant professor of Sociology Department.
