
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 17 (MExN): Model Christian College, on November 16, organised AN Innovative Teaching Programme for its teaching staff at the college premises.
The programme was graced by Dr. Gomesh Mosahary, Principal of Sazolie College of Teachers Education, as resource person who spoke on ‘Teaching Skills and Classroom Management’. Quoting a renowned saying ‘’Teachers are made, not born’’, Dr. Mosahary said that teachers are the backbone of the education system, maker of mankind and architect of the society. He illustrated various teaching skills such as introducing a lesson, explaining, stimulus variation, questioning, and blackboard work. He also stressed on the use of illustration in class, teacher’s movement, voice modulation, interactive lesson teaching and activity-based classroom. Being on time, displaying pleasing mood, making students comfortable and disciplining students were some of the suggestions he gave to the teachers in attendance.
The second session was led by Dr. Luke Rymbai, Principal of Model Christian College, as the resource person. He enlightened the faculty on ‘Evaluation and Question Paper Setting’. He stressed on the requirement of good evaluation saying that a good evaluation should have validity, reliability and objectivity in scoring. He also gave some lacunae of evaluation and suggested ways on how to avoid those.
A Career Guidance Programme was conducted by The Peace Channel for the students at the college auditorium. Three resource persons from TPC spoke on different topics. Katini Eshena, Researcher, Peace Channel, presented on decision making; Alino S. Chishi, District Animator, Peace Channel spoke on goal setting; while Pursungit, Social Development Specialist, presented to the students different career options and choices. The programme was attended by the students of the college from all semesters.
