Faith in Action Taekwondo Championship

Morung Express News Dimapur | October 7   The 4th Faith in Action Taekwondo Championship 2016 began on October 7 at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Dimapur. The two-day championship, which will conclude on October 7, will witness over a 100 participants competing in various age and weight categories. 4 IMG_6866 IMG_6906 IMG_6932 The opening ceremony was graced by RS Panesar, former assistant governor of Rotary International District 3240, as the chief guest. A social worker and an engineer by profession, Panesar in his address, dwelled on the importance of sports, which can refresh and energise the mind and body. While stating sport as a great medium for developing team spirit and respect for others, he added that it can also be a means of diversion from bad habits. “We should use out body for our benefit, for the family and the country. Refrain from using drugs and bad habits. Use your energy on sports and studies.”   Terming Taekwondo as a sports that demands utmost discipline, he encouraged the youth take it up. “Taekwondo is not only a tool for self defence and keeping fit, it is also a great means for developing self-restraint.”
