Students of Government High School PWD Kohima today clapped in unison in response to the library facility, which has been made available to them by a faith based organization here.
This library project is part of community service and an initiative of Society of Faith Ministries, Kohima (Faith Harvest Church) to encourage the students to develop the habit of readings.
The Church has provided 661 books for this library.
Gracing the inaugural function, Menukhol John, principal secretary school education & SCERT Nagaland lauded Faith Harvest Church for coming forward to partner with GHS PWD towards this library project.
He was optimistic that the students will gain maximum benefit from this project as library is about getting to know a lot of things.
“We believe that it is a small seed that we are sowing which will develop and grow into a great habit of reading, enhancing and great density in the life of our children here,” said Akumtila Kikon while highlighting the concept of the library project.
Challenging the students to develop the habit of reading, she said “very soon you will find that you have made a great investment in your life and you will see the benefits in life.”
“Reading provides knowledge, reading will help increase your knowledge, improve your concentration and also help to exercise your brain ad improve your vocabulary and communication,” she said.
Reading will also help you to develop your imagination and creativity, she told the students adding that reading also helps one discover new things.
She continued that reading is very important for anyone who wants to have a progressive and healthy mind adding that reading is one of the first skills one needs to develop to learn to succeed in life.
By sitting in the library room one can travel the whole world by reading books, she said.
Further, urging the students to read as many books, Kikon encouraged the students to adopt the highest number of reading books as means of competition among them.
The programme was led by Avi Zao while Visasielie Suohu, assistant headmaster GHS PWD, Kohima delivered welcome address.
Earlier, Faith Harvest Church senior pastor Rev. Shan Kikon pronounced dedicatory prayer.
