Farmer Scientist Interaction Meet conducted

Mokokchung, September 5 (MExN): Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung in collaboration with KVK, Yisemyong organized Farmer Scientist Interaction Meet on production, post-harvest management and marketing of vegetables on September 5 at ATMA Conference Hall, Mokokchung.


A press release informed that farmers during the interaction session raised various points related to their farming constraints to the panel of experts.


The interactive session covered topics on “Improved production technology of Cole crops, Root crops, tomato, pea,” Companion crops and composting for vegetables cultivation”, “Integrated Pest management”, “Integrated disease management in vegetable cultivation” and “Post-Harvest Management and marketing of vegetables”. 


During the interactive session the panel of experts gave recommendations on various queries raised by farmers. For better production of vegetables, preparation and maintenance of nursery is crucial.The farmers were encouraged to adopt crop rotation practices and planting at the right season and use of better varieties. The experts were of the view that farmers also need an integrated approach to understand and control pest and disease problems. Participants were also distributed with pheromone traps,Roban cake and bio fertilizers from District Agriculture Office, Mokokchung.


The panel of Scientists was Dr. Lanunochetla, Dy. DAO and PD ATMA Mokokchung, Maongsangla SDAO, Mokokchung, Renbomo Ngullie ACTO (Horti), KVK, Yisemyong, Samuel Sangtam, ACTO (Agro), KVK, Yisemyong and Rongsennungla Imchen, Dy.PD, ATMA, Mokokchung.


Altogether 42 farmers mostly women farmers participated in the programme chaired by Aolemla Kichu, BTM Chuchuyimlang, Keynote address by Rongsennungla Imchen, Dy.PD ATMA, Mokokchung.
