Farmers trained on latest techniques of veterinary extension services

Zunheboto, July 14 (MExN): Through the sponsorship of Government of India and the Directorate of AH & Veterinary Services, Nagaland under National Livestock Mission (NLM), the Chief Veterinary Officer's Office Zunheboto has kick started organising the orientation and capacity building training on latest techniques of veterinary extension services to the selected block farmers of the district from July 10 in its office conference hall.

CVO Zunheboto Dr. Toshi Aier in a press release stated that there are many instances of unattended treatable and manageable cases in remote areas appeared to have been causing negligible loss which has impounded to huge cumulative economic losses in the long run to the poor farmers due to lack of knowledge and proper extension services network.

He was optimistic that in future the impact of this training programme would certainly to some extent minimize such economic losses not only to the trained person but even to his/her surrounding farmers and in the process benefit them.

He was hopeful of getting the same benefits to other farmers as the department would continue organising and conducting the same program for other blocks of the district.

During the training programme, altogether twenty numbers of block livestock farmers, in two batches, have been trained by the resource persons, Dr. Gwanthenlo Tsela, VAS (OP) and Dr. Bocto Sumi VAS Vety Hospital, Zunheboto respectively.

They delivered on the latest technological approaches of veterinary extension services in dealing with pre and post onset of different types of livestock animals diseases, technology on artificial insemination in dairy animals incorporated with capsule, pre-information and awareness on porcine artificial insemination, stressing on its oestrous cycle, detection techniques in both the species and important techniques/points to be taken into consideration on both the farms and disease management.

The meeting ended with group interaction and discussion.
