FGN Ao region celebrates 56th yrs ceasefire between FGN & GOI

Mokokchung, September 7 (MExN): The Ao Region Federal Government of Nagaland/Naga National Council (FGN/NNC) celebrated its 56th year of ceasefire between the FGN and GOI at Ungma village, Mokokchung district on September 6.

A press release issued by Misan Peyu, Office Ao Region FGN/NNC, Oking Koridang stated that the programme was attended by all the National workers and people from different villages.

The release said that on August 14, 1947 the Naga people were declared free and sovereign, but the Indian government sent its army and tried to occupy the territories, which in turn compelled both the parties to sign a cease fire on September 6, 1964 but the ceasefire was unilaterally abrogated by India on August 30, 1972.

“Still the FGN/NNC honor and maintain the international ceasefire,” it said.

It further reminded all the ‘free’ Nagas to treasure it as God’s given heritage and “pray for the cause.”
