Dimapur, Sept 22 (MExN): Following the ‘Quit Notice’ issued to the Tangkhul community in Nagaland by the NSCN-K, the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has asked all “Tangkhul terrorists” in Pfutsero town to leave on or before September 27, 2006 “in order to restore Naga way of life.” The FGN cited interference of the community in the internal affairs of Pfutsero as the reason.
“In order to restore Naga way of life and safeguard our age-old values in the interest of each and every Naga, the general public is hereby informed and the Tangkhul terrorists are notified to leave Pfutsero Town and go to their respective homes on or before the 27th September, 2006” a released from Col Sishu Thepa, Commander 5 Bde, S/C, Naga Army of the FGN stated. It was stated that since the year 2004, the “Tangkhul terrorists” have been occupying Pfutsero and interfering in the local affairs of the inhabitants in the name of Naga nationalism. “But it has to be understood that through terrorism, Nagas can never be subjugated. We Nagas are a democratic and a Federal people. In Naga way of life we respect individual liberty and the autonomy of each other’s regions; interference in the internal affairs of others and intending to dominate other regions is a foreign word in Naga dictionary and history” the release asserted.
Meanwhile, the FGN has expressed full support to “Operation Freedom” being carried out by the joint force of Eastern Command and Southern Command, Naga Army. A release issued by Col Kutsoru, Commander of the 14 Bn, 5 Bde, S/C of the Naga Army, while affirming working for Naga sovereignty under the leadership of FGN Kedahge Brig. (Retd) S Singnya, appreciated “Operation Freedom” and expressed full support to it “in the interest of the Naga nation”. It also affirmed on certain points: to remain firm and work steadfastly for NNC/FGN; uphold August 14 1947 declaration of Naga independence and the May 16 1951 plebiscite; commitment to the resolution passed in the joint meeting of NNC.FGN authorities in Chakhesang Region on September 4 1997 at Phek Town to disassociate with the Transit Peace Camp at Kohima.
