
DIMAPUR, January 2 (MExN): Faith In Action Taekwondo Academy (FIATA), Nagaland shone at the recently concluded TIA-Open International Taekwondo Championship held at the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata. The championship, promoted by Korea Cultural Centre, was organised by Jeong’s Taekwondo Academy in association with Korea Taekwondo Association. Competitors from FIATA grabbed 16 medals (4 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze) helping India finish the championship third overall. Held on December 28 and 29 with competitors from 10 countries, Korea was the overall champion followed by Nepal in second place. In the Kyorugi Event, Kevin and Elina Yepthomi won gold; Yvette Vinivi Swu, Altab Uddin Choudhury, Arpita Bhattacharjee and Katila Kachari won silver; Irene Pokharel, Tiayanger and Manish Chhetri won bronze. Kevin and Irene Pokharel won gold in the Poomsae event. Dipraj Paswan won silver followed by Jon, Chaubasangla Chang, Jubaier Ikbal and Manish Chhetri winning bronze.
