FICCI empowering medium and small enterprises

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): An awareness workshop on Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools (QMS/QTT) was organised at Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) conference hall last Wednesday.

A press note stated that this workshop targeted at food processing industry in Nagaland was organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) along with Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE). It was organized with support from NIDC under the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Program (NMCP) scheme for “Enabling Manufacturing Sector to be Competitive through Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools” to help the Medium and Small Enterprises in their endeavour to become competitive through Quality Management Standards and Quality Technology Tools.

Biswajit Chakrabarty, Regional Head, FICCI, said that the main objective of this workshop is to create awareness about the Quality Management Standards and the Quality Technology Tools relevant to the different medium and small enterprises in the North East Region of the country.

Taku Jamir, General Manager, NIDC, Dimapur who addressed the participants said that he believed that this new initiative by FICCI would definitely help promote efficiency and productivity in the region.  The workshop had two sessions one of which sensitized the audience about the various aspects of Quality Management. The participants were illustrated the linkages between quality management and overall profitability of an organisation. The second session focused on Quality Technology Tools. Different management standards that were in practice in the present times were highlighted in the session.

The event received good feedback from the participants who consisted of entrepreneurs from various parts of Nagaland. At the end of the programme Taku Jamir, General Manager, NIDC distributed certificates for the participants.

“We believe that there is huge potential in Nagaland for promoting the industry and for developing entrepreneurial skills amongst the locals and FICCI would definitely endeavour to catalyse such positive development in this region,” said Chakrabarty in his concluding remarks. The workshop is one of the ten being organised at various industrial clusters in the north east region. Fifteen similar workshops were organised last year as well.
