“Change is a word very much on the lips of everyone. Yet how come few to non changes are experienced in our society?” and “What has become of the Naga moral sense?”

Powerfully exploring these questions, among many others, the latest offering from Dreamz Unlimited hit the ‘marquee’ today.

“Nana- A Tale of Us,” a film production of the Aoyimti Baptist Church Youth Ministry (ABCYM) was officially released by General Secretary, NBCC Rev. Dr Zelhou Keyho, on July 18 at NBCC Hall Kohima.

With a vision to “make a positive impact in Naga society through arts and media,” the ABCYM began its movie ministry in 2012. The ministry’s earlier production ‘Life Rewind’ (2012) and ‘The Wake-up Call (2014) in Ao Language (with subtitles) also received rave reviews.

Providing a brief introduction on the movie ministry, Advisor ABCYM, L Mongkum Jamir talked about the sheer level of ‘causes’ the present movie carries along with it.

“Visual is so powerful that it can impact right from the child to the elder, and it can also impact the mind negatively and positively” said Jamir adding the film is an endorsement of towards Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC)’s call for Clean Election in Nagaland.

“This is my story and your story. It is the story of those in the forests, those working in the rice fields, those in the valleys and mountains of Nagaland. Whether be it in the East, West, North, or South, it is our story,” said Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho while releasing the film.

“It will help the NBCC in their movement and inspire the people to go ahead with the clean election movement.”

Film is a reflection of society, both present and past and filmmakers comes out with ideas about something they want to state, opined T. Lima Pongen, Chairman, Aoyimti Village Council, further saying that ‘exceptionally revolutionizing movies’ will touch many lives and bring a change in the socio-political aspects of our land.

Challenging the Nagas to be wise in exercising their rights to choose the leaders through free and fair election, Pongen asserted that until and unless the electorates are determine to put an end to the political corruption in Nagaland, Nagas will never see the birth of ‘Good Governance’.

“The film covers the topic of fair elections and how we can all work to support a governmental process that is equally open and an example to other democratic system. I don’t know how this movie will produce down the road, if this movie is an indication I know this is going to bring even bigger impact for society and most importantly the much needed change in the political set up,” added Pongen.

N. Moa Aier, Officiating Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Government of Nagaland, meanwhile, informed that the Sema Students’ Union (SKK) have already declared for Clean Election in all the 7 A/Cs in Zunheboto district and likewise Lapangkong Range Youth has declared clean election in their 3 A/Cs. Aier hoped that all the tribes in Nagaland will declare the same in all their respective jurisdiction making all the 60 A/Cs a clean election A/Cs.

The Chief Electoral Commission is currently conducting special drives to enroll new voters of 19-21 years of age and for deletion of expired, transferred and duplicate/multiple names to purify the electoral roll.

Reiterating the Aoyimti Village’s declaration in 2016 where all the apex bodies of the village declared to practice clean election, the Pastor of Aoyimti Baptist Church, Temsu Jamir reminded that one cannot simply sit and hope for change looking at the scenario in Nagaland.

Urging Nagas to fight the good fight to end the wrongs and injustices in Nagaland, Jamir concluded, “The film is our future and it is our story. And we must fight the good fight for our future. There will be misunderstanding as we fight the good fight, but let us continue to fight the good fight.”
