‘Fighting the greatest evil in the society’

Langpangkong Students’ Conference releases Manifesto for clean election

Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): The Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (Langpangkong Students’ Conference) Clean Election Campaign Committee (LKMCECC) has committed itself to a 10-Point Clean Election Manifesto as a strategy in order to make the result of Clean Election campaign fruitful for the benefit of the people.

The Manifesto was released in a review meeting held at LKM Conference Hall, Chuchuyimlang on July 1 in the presence of parent bodies Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang and Langpangkong Watsü Telongjem; LKM leaders and its federal units office bearers from respective villages under Langpangkong range; and the LKMCECC members.

The 10 Point Manifesto began with a declaration that “one person, one vote principle” shall be upheld as every citizen has equal political rights before the law of the land.

A vote is not a purchasable commodity but one’s own political birthright bestowed upon by the Creator, it said further reaffirming its resolution not to sell the vote but use voting right as powerful tool to rebuild our society honestly and courageously during election .

The Manifesto also promised to let intending candidates share their visions for educated as well as uneducated in matters of employment and economic development and assured their (LKM) cooperation in developmental activities after the election.

“We shall endeavour to make the politics as service to our motherland as Politics is not money making business but purely Public service,” the LKMCECC Manifesto declared.

The Manifesto also recognised reformation and restoration of Education, Public Health and human resources development most pertinent issues in Nagaland.

It also pledged to work tirelessly to secure an upright and clean government to restore the present indigent and undignified status of Naga parents and children who are the victims of injustice and corruptions.

The LKMCECC resolved to undertake a two phase touring program to reach out to people with these messages in every village under the Langpangkong range from July 18.

At the meeting, the members present solemnly denounced ten social evils ruining the society in the lines of Gandhian thought. It includes amassing wealth without work, eating without labour, politics without principles, parasitical life, knowledge without character, commerce without morality, pleasure without conscience, violence against conscience, nationalism without patriotism, and talk more work less.

The LKMCECC also expressed appreciation to the people who were supporting its CEC and further appealed every citizen to remain strong and join hands together in this “fight against the greatest evil in our society today.”
