DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18 (MExN): The Nagaland State Finance Department today issued a clarification with regard to allegations of double drawal of funds for construction of hostels in different parts of the state.
This was in response to a call for clarification on the matter by the Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF).
A press note from the Finance Department informed that as per departmental records, an amount of Rs. 1002.50 lakh was received from the Government of India during March. Based on the proposal received in Finance Department, this amount was released during July 2016. It added that a similar amount was received in March 2017 as 2nd installment for the same works, and the same was released to the department during May 2017.
“There is therefore, no such double drawal as alleged,” the department said. It said that the amounts released were based on actual receipts from the Government of India.
Further, the department informed that the above releases were made under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme - “Grants under Proviso to Article 275(1)” under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
