Kohima, August 27 (MExN): The Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd. (NStCB), Kohima Main Branch organized financial literacy programme on August 26 at Teichuma village. Supported by Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) managed by NABARD, the programme was chaired by Lhousakoulie Metha, Village Council Chairman.
S Kevi Hibo, Asst. Branch Manager & I/C Nodal centre Kohima in his keynote address highlighted the significant role played by NStCB Ltd, especially for the rural poor farmers. Hibo also requested the rural farmers and the participants to approach the bank and avail credit facilities available in the bank with positive motive of repaying the loans, instead of borrowing from the informal money lenders, stated a press release received here.
It was highlighted that the concept and importance of launching the financial literacy programme was introduced by the GoI since majority of the Indian population are rural farmers who are financially excluded. In order to boost their living economy and uplift the BPL clusters, the programme was launched so that the rural farmers can be financially included, Kevi said. The programme aims to reach out to the unreached by way of conducting financial literacy camps in the rural areas where people are deprived of banking knowledge.
Hibo also elaborated on the importance of social security schemes such as PMJJBY, PMSBY, PMFSY, APY, and opening of various types of accounts, small savings methods, curtailing of expenditures.
Branch Manager HSJ Branch, Dusuzo Soho briefed the participants on judicious utilization of loans and prompt recovery of loan in the specific timeframe. The Manager also appealed to the villagers and the public in general to render their best services to the NStCB so that the bank can also serve the public better.
In the interactive session, S. Kevi Hibo discussed about the formation of SHG, JLG & KCC loan and seeding of Aadhaar Number in the accounts as the benefits entitled can be directly transferred to their accounts. Kevi also highlighted the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, which is a credit linked subsidy scheme. He challenged the participants to venture into the project honestly and sincerely.
Financial Literacy Camp
Mokokchung, August 27 (MExN): To promote financial literacy/inclusion, a one day Financial Literacy Camp (FLC) supported under FIF managed by NABARD was conducted at Mongsenyimti village on August 27. It was organized by Care and Support Society (CSS), Mokokchung in collaboration with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd (NStCB).
A press release from CSS informed that S. Amarjit Mangang, DDM, NABARD spoke on the role played by NABARD in financial inclusion. He further shared in detail about the farmers club, SHG & JLG program and role of NABARD in creating infrastructure in the district. Temsulepden, Assistant Branch Manager & in-charge FLC, NStCB, Mokokchung shared the importance of banking, saving, financial planning. He also dwelt on various financial services offered by the bank for the public and highlighted on PMJDY, PMJJBY and APY.
The programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director, CSS, and welcome address was delivered by Imnakumzuk, Chairman, Mongsenyimti Village Council.
